International TOPSPRAYER book

Between 2008 and 2010 two already well-known names were hitting trains, walls and all respective web portals with an amount, that was far beyond believe: Taps & Moses. There must be no writer in Europe, who was not catching at least 100 of their pieces by coincidence – and if so, he must be living on the moon or mars, got no internet connection or is just blind.

It seems to be part of the programme that no one knows who and how many people actually hide behind those aliases. Using an unbelievable cleverness, the International Topsprayer send 1000 worldwide rolling trains within 1000 days into the game – the boys seemed to be far ahead all party poopers in the game of graffiti and this way they raised the levels on what can be done by a good jump.

With a whole lot of style – some thoughts for jokes and a good amount of brains – a nice pile of burners were generated within this time, which will definitely go to the train-graffiti-hall-of-fame in case it’s not already there. Next to the “normal” style-writing pieces, some exceptional productions came to life. It appears that a subway car had one of its doors painted to another spot after being put to sleep in the layup for the night.

Rumors are that only 5% of the existing material made its way to the public so far – and that’s why we are very exited to see what the missing 95% keep back for surprises and burners.

This most awaited blackbook of these days will be available in spring-time 2011. On almost 300 pages it will await us with stuff that’s going to dry our tongues.

DEZE INTERVIEW

New Feature on Montana Blog, each month we will be interviewing a Graffiti Artists on their feelings on graffiti past, present and future.

We start with our first interview with Nottingham old school writer –  DEZE.

Could you start with explaining your graffiti name and when you got into graffiti?

My graffiti name was ‘Jay’ when i first started to paint/write in 1984 at the age 0f 14.I got caught for this name as it was too much like my real name so i changed it to Desinee Dee. It was one of those ‘def’ eighties names that sounded good at the time, Laughs…
I was always designing stuff so i thought it was appropriate, but after a while it kinda took ages to write so i decided to shorten it to DEZE.

What crews are you in?

I’m not in any crews at the moment, I’m on a solo tip. I guess if some good crew asked it would be nice to belong.
My old crews where Raw Writers and Cristal clients back in the eighties.

What was the graffiti scene like when you started in the 80′s and what is it like now ?

It was fresh, exciting and new in the eighties, not many people where doing it back then so recognition came allot easier.
It was all about Hip Hop, Getting up, Risk from rackin’ paint, to trespassing, an addictive buzz that had to be revisited often by many artists.
The paint was pretty naff back then, mainly car paints from the local motor store. If you could imagine doing a whole piece in mtn alien shade/highlight colours that would sum up the coverage of old paint! Oh and as for nozzles, you used to be stealing them off your moms hairspray cans to see what effects you could get, I think I even tried using a WD40 nozzle one time.
Whats it like now? Material wise its a whole lot easier with low pressure paint, high covering pigment and a whole array of caps to choose from. The graff scene has since evolved into something beautiful with such a vast amount of specialised paint, legal spots and public acceptance.

How would you describe your work?

I would describe my work as a creative journey, forever changing with me in my journey of life.

Where do you travel to paint? What is your favourite city to paint?

I mainly travel on foot, so local is the norm, but i did enjoy my graff excursion to Hong Kong this year ;-)

Who did you like painting with and why?

If I’m painting with another artist it’s a bonus as we all are on the same vibe, I liked painting with every artist i ever painted with.

What do you think of the internet and how it effects graffiti scene?

Global village sis! It’s like we all live in one tiny village seeing each others graff everyday but on a global scale. Brilliant for meeting new artists with the possibility of travel and new experiences. On the downside, the same old style can be seen on a global scale but it does ping! out the unique artists when you come across them. It’s like you gotta be unique and get your style established out there before everyone becomes heavily influenced by it and starts to bite! as we say in the old skool.

What is your favourite colours in Montana Colors(Hardcore, 94, Alien)?

Hmmm I like em all!

What are your future plans in the graffiti world?

No plans, but i do dream of a large warehouse gallery and outdoor hall of fame “grins” to take my art full time and others to the next level.

Shouts go out to the OldSkool crew! Rip, Rike, Dtec, Popsie, Zero, Mega, D2, Murda, Kapo, Craze, Pulse, AD, Brainz, Pentax and so many more…
Respect to Dilk, Syl at the MTN shop , Xeme KB.

Express yourself!
Peace
